As he did in Shakespeare in Love, Tom Stoppard uses dazzling language in a Shakespeare inspired story that asks, “what if?” What if we are minor characters in our own story? What if we are trapped in a play we can’t alter? The result is a profoundly funny, deeply moving portrait of moR & G-image-1024x824dern life as seen by two characters who disappear from Hamlet in a single line: “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead.”
