SUMMARY:Kim Weitkamp Family Storytelling Event
DESCRIPTION:The Sandbar Storytelling Festival is excited to welcome back award-winning storyteller\, author\, singer-songwriter\, and all-around humorist Kim Weitkamp for a three-day residency in Winona this weekend. If you caught her at the 2023 festival\, you’ll remember how she had the audience laughing one minute and tearing up the next\, sharing everything from childhood tales and Southern charm to marriage and menopause. \nKicking off the 2025 season\, Kim will spend time in local schools\, bringing her storytelling magic to students from kindergarten through 15th grade. \nOn Saturday morning\, families are invited to join her for a special storytelling session at 10 a.m. at the Winona Public Library. Then\, on Saturday night\, she wraps up her visit with a full evening of stories and music at 7 p.m. in the Page Theatre at Saint Mary’s University. \nKim grew up in Amish Country as the middle child of what she lovingly calls “exhausted parents.” Her school teachers once called her high-spirited\, uncooperative\, and way too talkative. Lucky for us\, she turned that into a lifelong career of heartfelt\, high-energy\, and hilarious storytelling—and we’re all the better for it.
