“Celebrate Bach”: Organ Recital Series

Johann Sebastian Bach, a devout Lutheran composer, believed his music—sacred and secular alike—should glorify God and refresh the spirit. He often signed his works with “S.D.G.,” meaning Glory to God Alone.

To mark the 275th anniversary of Bach’s death, Central Lutheran Church of Winona is presenting a month-long celebration of “Papa Bach” this September. The festival features free noontime organ recitals, a play about Bach, and a special performance by the Bach Society of Minnesota.

This week’s recital takes place Wednesday, September 17th, from noon to 1 p.m., featuring Daniel Lewis, Director of Music at St. Martin’s Church in Winona. All events are free and open to the public.
