Minnesota Beethoven Fest: Anthony McGill (Clarinet)

Clarinetist Anthony McGill has been called “brilliant” with a “penetrating sound and rich character” by The New York Times—and for good reason. As principal clarinet of the New York Philharmonic, he made history as the orchestra’s first African-American principal player. McGill keeps a busy schedule as a soloist and chamber musician around the globe, and his talent hasn’t gone unnoticed—he’s the winner of the 2020 Avery Fisher Prize, plus,  Musical America’s 2024 Instrumentalist of the Year.
