Poppa Foster

Chris “Poppa” Foster is a Tulsa-based songwriter, pianist, and singer whose music masterfully weaves together the soulful threads of New Orleans piano legends, Memphis soul, Delta blues, and Tulsa Americana. Steeped in Southern tradition yet daringly innovative, Foster is a true piano maverick, blending eclectic styles into captivating stories and songs.

With a career spanning decades, he has shared the stage and studio with an impressive array of artists, including John Moreland, Todd Clouser, Steve Pryor, Johnny Mullenax, Seth Lee Jones, Annie Ellicott, and Wink Burcham. In a particularly memorable performance, Foster stepped in for the late, great Leon Russell, singing and playing piano alongside Russell’s touring band during Leon’s 75th birthday and memorial celebration at Tulsa’s Circle Cinema.
