The Sound of Gospel Music: An Anthology Depicting the Rich History and Evolution of Gospel Music

The Sound of Gospel© Music is a musical journey through the history of gospel, presented by the Rochester NAACP. The production showcases praise and worship, work and freedom songs, spirituals, choirs, quartets, and contemporary gospel, with elements of drama and joy woven throughout. Celebrating Black History Month, it is produced by William Pierce of 2nd Chance Outreach, directed by Academy Award-nominated Jevetta Steele, and features musical direction by Grammy-winning Billy Steele. Sponsored by local organizations and institutions, the show also marks the first participation of Rochester Public Schools students in a 2nd Chance Outreach production.
