Sand County blends reflections on the natural world with instrumental exploration—drawing inspiration from Aldo Leopold, Marisa Anderson, Sandy Bull, Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, John Fahey, and more. Each piece begins with a reading from the “out-of-doors,” followed by an improvised guitar-driven response shaped by the ideas in the text. Founded by Luke Callen, Sand County often features Chris Gray on drums and a rotating cast of guests on bass, second guitar, and pedal steel.
upup/OVER is the atmospheric, acoustic, instrumental project of Mike Munson, channeling an interstellar mood through intricate guitar work. The project’s first full-length album, Perihelion Day, debuted in 2024 on Liatris Records.
